Westhaven Extends High-Grade Gold and Silver Discoveries at Shovelnose Gold Property
Westhaven Gold Corp. announced an extension of high-grade gold and silver mineralization below the South Zone deposit at its Shovelnose Gold Property. New drill results extend below the deepest mining stopes proposed in the company's 2025 preliminary economic assessment, indicating significant potential.
Westhaven Gold Corp. (TSX-V: WHN) has successfully extended high-grade gold and silver mineralization at its South Zone deposit on the Shovelnose Gold Property in southern British Columbia, Canada. The company reported the latest assay results from its ongoing 35,000-meter resource infill drilling program, which confirm significant thicknesses of high-grade mineralization both below the existing depths of the deposit and at its southeastern margin.
According to the released results, drill hole SNR26-117 returned a notable 10.04 meters grading 12.18 g/t gold and 103 g/t silver. This intersection is particularly important as it extends high-grade gold and silver mineralization below the deepest mining stopes proposed in Westhaven's 2025 preliminary economic assessment (PEA). Another significant result came from drill hole SNR26-110, which confirmed thick, high-grade mineralization at the southeastern margin of the deposit, yielding 37.34 meters grading 6.24 g/t gold and 55 g/t silver. Ken Armstrong, President and CEO of Westhaven, commented that these latest assays have the potential to increase contained ounces within the South Zone deposit.
These new drilling results could serve as a positive catalyst for Westhaven Gold Corp. shares (WHN). In the precious metals markets, particularly for gold (XAUUSD) and silver (XAGUSD), prices continue to be influenced by macroeconomic factors such as geopolitical developments and inflation concerns. High-grade discoveries like these can directly impact the valuation of mining companies. The company's progress at the Shovelnose project also has the potential to boost investor interest in the junior mining sector generally.
British Columbia has a rich history of mining activities, and Westhaven's extensive land portfolio within the Spences Bridge Gold Belt highlights the region's underexplored potential. Globally, increasing demand for precious metals and the search for supply security further enhance the strategic importance of such new discoveries. Gold, in particular, stands out as a safe-haven asset during periods of global economic uncertainty, while silver is supported by both industrial and investment demand.
Analysts and market observers suggest that Westhaven's latest findings have the potential to lead to an upward revision of the South Zone deposit's resource estimates. The fact that over 76% of the company's ongoing drilling program is complete, with four active drill rigs, strengthens expectations for further positive news flow in the coming period. Follow-up drilling and updated economic assessments will more clearly define the impact of these discoveries on the company's long-term growth potential.
