Veteran Economist Dr. Can Fuat Gürlesel Passes Away

Dr. Can Fuat Gürlesel, a leading figure in Turkey's economic and corporate strategy landscape, has died at the age of 61. Gürlesel, who had been battling cancer for a long time, passed away, causing deep sorrow in the business and economic communities.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Can Fuat Gürlesel made significant contributions to the real sector by providing economic consultancy to major industrial, construction, and export organizations in Turkey. He served as an economic advisor to numerous institutions, including the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), the Turkish Construction Material Industrialists' Association (İMSAD), the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), and the Turkish Ceramics Federation. Through his own company, Ekonomi ve Strateji Danışmanlık Hizmetleri (Economy and Strategy Consultancy Services), he offered economic and sectoral advisory services to financial and real sector institutions, business organizations, and public bodies.

Actively involved in academia, Gürlesel graduated from Istanbul University's Faculty of Economics, Department of Labor Economics, and completed his doctoral studies. He authored numerous books, articles, and reports on the private sector in Turkey, making substantial contributions to the literature. He was also the founding president of the Dr. Can Fuat Gürlesel Strategic Research Institute, where he conducted strategic research and future studies.

Widely recognized for his commentary on Bloomberg HT, Dr. Can Fuat Gürlesel was known for his ability to analyze global and local economic developments from diverse perspectives. His analyses incorporated current data to assess impacts on specific sectors and institutions, and he was noted for his unconventional thinking and innovative solution proposals. The funeral for the late Dr. Can Fuat Gürlesel will be held on Monday, July 20, following the midday prayer at Ataköy 5. Kısım Mosque, and he will be laid to rest in Avcılar Cemetery.
