Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) has introduced "Truth API," a data service providing early access to posts from influential accounts on its social media platform, Truth Social. The company is reportedly charging institutional investors up to $100,000 per month to gain a milliseconds-earlier glimpse of announcements, particularly those from US President Donald Trump, which have historically influenced market movements. This new revenue model is positioned as a crucial part of Trump Media's strategy to bolster its financial standing and monetize its proprietary assets.

The Truth API service offers subscribers access to posts from prominent Truth Social accounts moments before they become publicly available. According to reports citing Reuters, a lower price of $60,000 per month is available for those committing to a three-year plan, in addition to the monthly $100,000 fee. Kevin McGurn, interim CEO of Trump Media, stated that the service provides "a direct, licensed, real-time feed of the platform's most market-moving Truths," aiming to generate a high-margin, recurring revenue stream.

This development directly impacts Trump Media's presence in financial markets and the performance of its DJT stock. The company's shares experienced a rally in July, gaining approximately 23% following the news of Truth API. However, Trump Media reported a net loss of $712 million in 2025, with revenues of only $3.7 million in the same year. For a company grappling with negative EBITDA, this new service is seen as a long-sought strategy to increase revenue.

However, the Truth API service has also ignited serious ethical and legal debates in the markets. Critics argue that offering early, paid access to the President's policy announcements, which can move markets, may violate insider trading and market manipulation laws. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff have urged the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate the service. Renée Jones, a former SEC official, also voiced concerns that monetizing presidential posts could be seen as running afoul of insider trading regulations.

At the core of these controversies is President Trump's position as the largest shareholder of Truth Social and his potential to personally profit from the service. Shannon Devine, a spokesperson for Trump Media & Technology Group, stated that Truth API offers the fastest way to ingest publicly available Truth Social data and dismissed allegations of insider trading as baseless. While some Wall Street figures have called the service "insane," it is also acknowledged that high-frequency trading firms might find such data essential for competitive advantage. The forthcoming actions by the SEC and the broader market's reaction to this new service will be crucial for Trump Media's future and overall market ethics.
