Three additional commercial vessels were struck in or near the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions in one of the world's most critical energy corridors. Maritime security agencies reported that three cargo ships were hit by unidentified projectiles or drones while operating in the region. The vessels included the Thai‑flagged Mayuree Naree, the Japanese container ship One Majesty and the Marshall Islands‑flagged Star Gwyneth.

The incidents come as the conflict involving Iran and Western allies intensifies following military strikes targeting Iranian infrastructure. Shipping security monitors say the latest attacks bring the total number of commercial vessels damaged since the conflict began to at least fourteen, highlighting growing risks to global maritime trade.

Iranian military officials warned that the escalation could have severe consequences for energy markets. A spokesperson for Iran’s military command said the world should "get ready for $200 oil," arguing that crude prices are directly linked to regional security conditions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a crucial chokepoint for global energy flows. Roughly one‑fifth of the world's seaborne oil supply passes through the narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf to international markets. Analysts warn that prolonged disruption or a potential closure of the strait could trigger sharp spikes in crude prices and increased volatility across global financial markets.
