Texas Instruments: Industrial demand lifts outlook beyond data centers

Texas Instruments (NASDAQ:TXN) said it raised its 2026 outlook after stronger-than-expected demand from industrial customers as well as continued build-out of data centers, surpassing Wall Street estimates.

Management reported that second-quarter revenue and profit forecasts were set above analyst expectations and will begin breaking out sales to the data-center end market separately. Executives noted industrial end-market revenue grew in the “high‑teens” percentage range, and that customers have been restocking after clearing pandemic-era excess inventories.

The stock reacted positively in after‑hours trading, reflecting investor relief that demand is broadening beyond only high‑end AI processors to include analog and power-management chips used in data centers and industrial equipment. Company bookings also exceeded analyst estimates by a wide margin, lending credibility to the upgraded guidance.

TI is continuing to invest in capacity — including moves toward 300 mm wafer production — to secure supply for customers scaling AI and automation projects. The wider context is a significant data‑center build‑out tied to AI expansion and a gradual recovery in industrial and automotive markets, though higher capital expenditure levels could pressure returns if utilization lags.

Analysts remain cautiously optimistic: some view the strength as a restocking cycle while others see structural benefits from AI-driven infrastructure spending. Key near-term indicators for investors will be the cadence of customer orders, utilization of new fab capacity and whether TI can sustain margin improvement as it scales production.
