Stellar chosen for DTCC's tokenization of Wall Street securities
DTCC will connect DTC‑custodied securities to the Stellar public blockchain; tokenized assets could be available in H1 2027, SDF highlights built‑in compliance features.

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced it will connect its DTC tokenization service to the Stellar public blockchain, with DTC‑tokenized assets expected to become available on Stellar in the first half of 2027.
DTCC's move follows a December 2025 SEC no‑action letter that cleared the way for a regulated tokenization service. DTCC and Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) say the integration builds on prior work with Securrency (now part of DTCC Digital Assets) that helped embed compliance tools—such as clawbacks, transfer restrictions and identity controls—into the network, a capability SDF CEO Denelle Dixon highlighted in recent interviews.
Market reaction combined a brief uplift in Stellar's native token XLM with renewed focus on tokenization's promise to shorten settlement cycles, free trapped collateral and extend trading hours. Observers warn that while technical rails are being established, actual trading volumes will depend on regulatory approvals, custody arrangements and the development of a compliant cash settlement leg.
The decision is a clear example of DTCC's multi‑chain strategy to modernize post‑trade infrastructure while preserving investor protections and regulatory safeguards. Given DTCC's central role in U.S. markets, the move could accelerate institutional interest in on‑chain representations of traditional assets, but it also raises operational and supervisory questions that market participants and regulators must address.
Analysts expect initial tokenization use cases to focus on highly liquid instruments such as Russell 1000 constituents, ETFs that track major indices, and U.S. Treasuries. The near‑term outlook centers on testing lifecycle management, corporate actions and reporting onchain, with broader adoption contingent on interoperability, custody solutions and how the cash settlement leg is implemented.
