SpaceX and Anthropic IPOs: Tech Giants' Monumental Market Debuts
Space transport giant SpaceX is poised for a record-breaking IPO on Nasdaq on June 12. Meanwhile, AI leader Anthropic has completed its confidential filing, setting the stage for a massive market debut in the latter half of the year.
SpaceX, the space transport and satellite internet company led by Elon Musk, and Anthropic, a prominent player in artificial intelligence, are preparing for what are expected to be among the largest initial public offerings (IPOs) of the year. Both companies are known for their groundbreaking projects in the technology sector, and their impending market debuts are generating significant excitement among investors. SpaceX, in particular, is set to begin trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange on June 12, aiming for a record-setting IPO.
SpaceX plans to raise approximately $75 billion by selling 555.6 million shares at $135 apiece in its IPO. This target could push the company's market valuation to between $1.75 trillion and $1.77 trillion, potentially surpassing Saudi Aramco's record-setting IPO in 2019. Demand for the company's IPO has been exceptionally strong, with the order book reportedly oversubscribed by more than twofold, reaching approximately $150 billion. SpaceX has also allocated a substantial 30% of its shares to retail investors, a figure significantly higher than the typical allocation in large IPOs. Despite achieving revenues of $18.7 billion in 2025, the company reported a net loss of $2.6 billion for the same year. This loss is largely attributed to significant investments in its artificial intelligence division, xAI.
Concurrently, AI company Anthropic has also taken a major step towards its market debut by confidentially filing for an IPO with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Analysts suggest that Anthropic's IPO could occur as early as this autumn. The company's latest funding round, Series H in May 2026, raised $65 billion, boosting its post-money valuation to $965 billion. This valuation places Anthropic ahead of its competitor, OpenAI, which has an $852 billion valuation, making Anthropic the world's most valuable private AI startup. Anthropic's run-rate revenue surpassed $47 billion as of May 2026, and the company is expected to achieve profitability this quarter.
These monumental IPOs are poised to have a significant impact on the broader markets and the technology sector. The high valuations of AI companies entering the market reflect strong investor appetite and robust growth expectations within the industry. SpaceX's diverse operations, encompassing space exploration, Starlink satellite internet, and its xAI artificial intelligence unit, highlight its multiple growth engines. Anthropic, on the other hand, is rapidly expanding its market share with its Claude large language model (LLM) and AI-powered coding tools like Claude Code, particularly targeting enterprise clients. The company's focus on AI safety and constitutional AI principles contributes to its appeal in the corporate sector.
This wave of IPOs signals a new cycle of mega-listings in the technology sector. The significant capital accumulated by private companies now entering public markets could enhance overall liquidity in the economy and present new investment opportunities. However, some analysts caution that these elevated valuations might carry the risk of an 'AI bubble.' The global intense interest in technology and the transformative potential of artificial intelligence will play a pivotal role in the success of these highly anticipated IPOs.
Market analysts remain optimistic about the long-term growth potential of both SpaceX and Anthropic, though they note that high valuations could lead to short-term volatility. For SpaceX, future projects such as space tourism, Mars missions, and the global expansion of Starlink offer substantial potential. For Anthropic, maintaining its leadership in enterprise AI solutions and expanding into new vertical markets will be crucial. Investors will need to closely monitor these companies' paths to profitability and their positions within the competitive landscape, as these factors will determine the impact of their future actions on market performance.
