Redhead Rescues appeals urgently to raise £150,000 to buy land

Redhead Rescues Animal Sanctuary, based in Finedon, Northamptonshire, has launched an urgent fundraising appeal to raise £150,000 to purchase the land it currently occupies. The sanctuary’s founder, Teresa Underwood, said the landlord has put the site up for sale, leaving the organisation facing the prospect of relocation if it cannot secure the funds.

Founded in 2020 and run largely on volunteer effort and donations, the sanctuary provides shelter and medical care for dogs and field animals. Underwood told BBC Radio Northampton that recent investments to safeguard the site—including £9,000 spent on perimeter fencing—have stretched the charity’s finances, and that day-to-day veterinary and surgical bills are a constant drain. The charity has scheduled a dog show and car boot sale on 24 May 2026 at a nearby community and sports club to help raise funds.

From a financial perspective, a £150,000 target represents a material challenge for a small, self-funded charity. Local land prices and the competitive nature of the property market in parts of the East Midlands mean that community fundraising alone may be insufficient without larger donors or institutional support. Operational costs are concentrated in veterinary care and facility maintenance, creating an ongoing need for predictable cash flow rather than one-off donations.
