Red Sea Global (RSG), Saudi Arabia's regenerative tourism developer, is preparing to open the Six Senses AMAALA luxury resort in its ambitious AMAALA destination on the Red Sea coast, with its first guests expected in mid-July. This launch is a crucial part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 efforts to diversify its economy away from oil dependence and establish tourism as a significant revenue stream.

Situated in AMAALA's Triple Bay area, Six Senses AMAALA features 100 suites and villas, along with 25 branded residences. The resort's village-style layout, inspired by traditional Saudi coastal architecture, is nestled between beaches, a lagoon, and a clifftop mesa. Guests will have access to a dedicated Six Senses Spa offering longevity and biohacking therapies, Watsu pools, and sound healing. The property also boasts three signature restaurants, an artisan bakery, a coffee roastery, and a cooking school. This marks Red Sea Global's second Six Senses property in Saudi Arabia, following the opening of Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea, in 2023.

The broader AMAALA project is a tourism megaproject developed by Red Sea Global, owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), spanning over 4,200 square kilometers on the nation's northwest coast. Investment for Phase One of AMAALA alone totals SAR 51.04 billion (approximately USD 13.6 billion). Upon full completion, AMAALA is projected to contribute SAR 11 billion (USD 3 billion) to the national GDP and create up to 50,000 jobs.

Such giga-projects are central to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, aiming to transform the country into a global tourism hub. The tourism sector's contribution to GDP is targeted to increase from 3% in 2019 to 10% by 2030. The opening of Six Senses AMAALA is a significant step towards achieving Saudi Arabia's goal of attracting 100 million annual visitors by 2030 and increasing its share in the luxury tourism market. Red Sea Global had previously secured SAR 6.5 billion (USD 1.73 billion) in green financing for AMAALA from Riyad Bank, The Saudi Investment Bank, and Bank Albilad.

The AMAALA project places a strong emphasis on sustainability, aiming to operate on 100% renewable energy, achieve a zero-carbon footprint, and deliver a 30% net conservation benefit to local ecosystems by 2040. This eco-conscious approach seeks to set new global standards for sustainable tourism development. Red Sea Global has also announced plans to invest an additional $27 billion across its projects by 2030.

Analysts believe that the launch of luxury resorts like Six Senses AMAALA will accelerate Saudi Arabia's economic diversification efforts by boosting tourism revenues and generating new employment opportunities. As AMAALA Triple Bay is expected to eventually feature over 1,600 hotel rooms across nine resorts, these developments will enhance the country's international competitiveness and solidify its position as a world-class luxury destination.
