PubMatic Exceeds Expectations with Strong Q2 Growth and Profitability
Digital advertising technology firm PubMatic (PUBM) reported robust second-quarter 2026 results, with revenue increasing 11% to $78.6 million. The company surpassed adjusted EBITDA and EPS estimates, driven by strong growth in Connected TV (CTV) and mobile app revenues. CFO Steve Pantelick's retirement plan was also announced.

PubMatic (PUBM), a leading digital advertising technology company, outperformed market expectations with its financial results for the second quarter of 2026. The company reported revenue of $78.6 million, an 11% increase year-over-year. This strong performance was primarily driven by growth in Connected TV (CTV), mobile app, and emerging channels, including its AI-powered AgenticOS, which collectively accounted for approximately 60% of total revenue.
The company's GAAP net loss narrowed significantly to $1.2 million, an improvement from a $5.2 million loss in the prior year. Adjusted EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) surged by 38% to $19.6 million, achieving a 25% margin and substantially beating analyst forecasts. Non-GAAP net income reached $5.9 million, or $0.12 per diluted share, well above market expectations. Furthermore, free cash flow saw a 47% increase, reaching $13.7 million.
PubMatic concluded the quarter with a strong cash position of $137.5 million in cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities, with no outstanding debt. The company continued its commitment to returning capital to shareholders by repurchasing 2.1 million shares during the second quarter. CEO Rajeev Goel attributed the return to double-digit revenue growth earlier than anticipated, expanded profitability, and strengthened competitive positioning across AgenticOS, CTV, and mobile app as key factors for these results.
These positive financial developments led to a favorable market reception for PubMatic's stock, with its share price rising after the strong earnings announcement. The company's success in its technology-driven growth strategy was evident, particularly with AI customer adoption more than doubling sequentially, resulting in over 80 AgenticOS campaigns and more than 4,000 AI-powered deals. Supply Path Optimization (SPO) represented over 55% of total activity on its platform.
For the third quarter of 2026, management provided a revenue outlook in the range of $75 million to $77 million and an adjusted EBITDA forecast between $17.0 million and $19.0 million. These projections also exceeded analyst estimates. In other news, Steve Pantelick, the company's long-serving Chief Financial Officer, announced his plan to retire after the first quarter of 2027. Pantelick will continue to serve as a senior adviser through July 2027 during the transition period.
Analysts anticipate that PubMatic's investments in AI-powered advertising technologies and its focus on high-value channels like CTV and mobile app will continue to fuel its future growth. The company's debt-free balance sheet and robust cash position provide flexibility for strategic investments and share repurchases. The market will closely monitor the adoption rates of AgenticOS and other AI products, as well as their impact on future revenue generation.
