Rising Gas Prices Challenge GOP Affordability Message

Rising oil and gasoline prices in the United States are threatening to complicate House Republicans’ strategy of campaigning on affordability ahead of upcoming elections. As oil prices climbed, gasoline prices in the U.S. also moved higher.

According to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average price for gasoline recently reached about $3.57 per gallon. The increase is drawing attention from policymakers and voters alike, as fuel prices remain one of the most visible indicators of household cost pressures.
