Onchain reinsurance: Forward, RockawayX back OnRe on Solana network

Forward Industries and RockawayX have co-led a $5 million Series A funding round for OnRe and announced Forward’s intention to deploy up to $25 million into OnRe’s yield-bearing token, ONyc, to accelerate onchain reinsurance on the Solana network.

According to company statements, Forward Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: FWDI) and RockawayX will support OnRe’s efforts to build regulated reinsurance capacity on blockchain rails, with OnRe operating under Bermuda insurance and digital asset frameworks. Forward described the allocation to ONyc as an extension of its Solana treasury strategy toward tokenized real-world cash flows.

Market implications include potential balance-sheet yield for Forward and increased demand for Solana-based liquidity as ONyc is distributed and integrated into DeFi channels.
