Lloyds app glitch shows other customers' transactions
A technical glitch in Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland mobile apps briefly allowed some users to see transactions belonging to other customers.
A technical glitch affecting mobile banking apps operated by Lloyds Banking Group briefly exposed transaction data belonging to other customers. Users of the Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland apps reported on Thursday morning that they were able to view payments and charges that did not belong to their own accounts.
According to customer reports shared online, account balances appeared to remain correct but the transaction history section intermittently displayed payments and transfers from other users. The issue quickly raised concerns about potential data privacy risks, with many customers contacting the bank’s support channels for clarification.
Lloyds Banking Group acknowledged the incident and apologised to customers, confirming that some users experienced problems viewing transactions in the mobile app for a short period. The bank said the technical issue was resolved quickly after it was identified.
Lloyds Banking Group operates several major retail banking brands in the United Kingdom, including Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, and serves millions of digital banking customers. Following the incident, the bank said its teams were reviewing the systems to ensure the issue was fully addressed and to maintain customer data security.
