Larry Ellison Overtakes Jensen Huang as World's 7th-Wealthiest Person Amid Oracle Rally
Larry Ellison's net worth surged as Oracle shares rose, allowing him to surpass Jensen Huang as the world's seventh-richest person, while Nvidia's shares experienced a decline. This shift highlights the intense competition and dynamic market forces within the technology and AI sectors.

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison has surpassed Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to become the world's seventh-wealthiest person, propelled by a rally in Oracle's shares. As of Monday, Ellison's estimated net worth increased by $2.9 billion, reaching $190.6 billion, as Oracle shares traded up approximately 2.6% to around $151 per share.
This development occurred concurrently with a decrease in Jensen Huang's net worth due to a decline in Nvidia's shares. Despite this recent rise, Ellison's net worth has remained largely flat year-to-date and is down $2 billion since the end of 2025. Oracle's stock, on the other hand, has seen a 23% decline since January, although it reached a year-to-date peak in June as part of a broader artificial intelligence (AI) market rebound that boosted software and cloud infrastructure stocks.
However, Oracle's stock performance has not been consistently strong. The company's shares fell to their lowest point of the year in July, following an S&P Global credit rating downgrade to BBB- and the issuance of substantial debt to fund its aggressive investments in AI infrastructure. This situation has raised concerns regarding the financial implications of the company's ambitious expansion strategy in the AI domain.
Conversely, Jensen Huang's net worth has seen a significant increase of over $30 billion since the end of 2025. Nvidia shares have rallied 17% since the beginning of the year, driven by exceptionally high demand for AI infrastructure and key partnerships with entities like Elon Musk's SpaceX and SK Group. Nvidia has recorded massive profit growth during this period, maintaining its dominant position in the AI chip market.
This fluctuation in the rankings of these tech billionaires underscores the rapid transformations and intense competition within the technology sector, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence. While market analysts hold varying views on the long-term returns of Oracle's heavy AI infrastructure investments, the demand for Nvidia's AI chips is expected to remain robust. The fortunes of other prominent tech leaders, such as Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg ($205.8 billion) and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer ($156.2 billion), are also closely monitored in this dynamic environment.
