Richard Childress Racing (RCR) announced Friday it has suspended use of Kyle Busch's No.8 Cup car and will run the No.33 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, saying the No.8 will be reserved for Busch's son Brexton when he is ready to race. The move follows Busch's unexpected death a day earlier.

According to the team's statement, RCR decided no one could carry the No.8 forward at Busch's level and opted to hold the number for Brexton. Austin Hill is scheduled to take the seat at the Coca‑Cola 600 as RCR implements the temporary car-number change. The cause of Busch's death has not been released.
