How to Transfer Crypto Between Exchanges: A Step-by-Step Guide
How to transfer coins from one crypto exchange to another? Network selection, fees, and security tips.
Transferring crypto assets between exchanges is a common operation. When done correctly, it is safe and fast, but mistakes can lead to irreversible losses.
Transfer Steps:
1. Get the Deposit Address on the Target Exchange:
Go to the deposit page for the coin you want to transfer. Copy the wallet address. Note the network selection.
2. Network Selection (Critical!):
You must select the same network on both exchanges. Wrong network selection results in lost coins!
- ERC-20: Ethereum network (higher fees, secure)
- TRC-20: Tron network (low fees, fast)
- BEP-20: BSC network (low fees)
- SOL: Solana network (very fast, low fees)
- Native networks: Bitcoin network for BTC, Ripple for XRP
3. Initiate Withdrawal from Source Exchange:
Go to withdrawal page. Paste the target wallet address. Select the correct network. Enter the amount and confirm.
4. Verification:
2FA code, email confirmation, and SMS verification may be required.
5. Wait:
Transfer time varies by network: Bitcoin 10-60 min, Ethereum 2-5 min, Tron 1-2 min, Solana seconds.
Important Warnings:
- Send a small test amount for your first transfer.
- Always copy-paste wallet addresses; never type them manually.
- Some coins require a MEMO/TAG field (XRP, XLM, ATOM). Leaving it empty causes coin loss.
- Transfer fees vary between exchanges; check beforehand.
- Follow local regulations; not all exchanges may be licensed in your jurisdiction.
