Israel Says It Struck Basij Checkpoints in Tehran

The Israeli military announced that it carried out strikes targeting Basij militia checkpoints in Iran’s capital Tehran as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate. Iranian state media reported that the attacks were carried out by Israeli drones and resulted in the deaths of several security personnel and members of the Basij force.

The Basij is a paramilitary organization affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and plays a key role in domestic security operations, including operating checkpoints across major cities. The reported strike on checkpoints in Tehran marks one of the latest incidents targeting Iran’s internal security infrastructure.

In a statement, the Israeli military indicated that operations against Iranian military and security targets could continue, emphasizing that the campaign would proceed for as long as necessary. The statement also said that missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israeli territory and that some were intercepted by Israeli air defense systems.
