F-16V deliveries: Taiwan says delayed US jets to arrive this year

Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said it expects the first of the delayed U.S.-made F-16V Block 70 fighters to begin arriving this year, while acknowledging production and supplier setbacks have altered earlier schedules. The ministry described the timing shifts as the result of “acute fluctuations” in the international situation that affected some suppliers and the U.S. assembly schedule.

The aircraft purchase comprises 66 new F-16V jets alongside a broader upgrade programme that converted older F-16A/B airframes to the Viper standard. Officials told lawmakers the first batch had originally been slated for delivery in the third quarter, but that software integration, supply-chain bottlenecks and production-line relocations have contributed to delays; authorities aim to push shipments in the fourth quarter where feasible.
