Ethereum and Bitcoin ETFs See Daily Outflows, Weekly Inflows Remain Positive
US spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds ended a five-day inflow streak with net outflows on Friday, yet recorded a third consecutive week of positive flows. Bitcoin ETFs also experienced two days of outflows but extended their weekly inflow streak to three.

US-listed spot Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) concluded a five-day consecutive inflow streak on Friday with net outflows totaling $70.62 million. Despite this reversal, Ethereum ETFs still managed to post $103.9 million in net inflows for the week, extending their positive weekly inflow streak to three consecutive weeks. Cumulatively, these funds have attracted $337.74 million in net inflows throughout July.
Prior to Friday's outflows, Ethereum funds had recorded substantial net inflows of $211.25 million over the preceding five trading sessions from July 17 to Thursday. This period of strong performance indicated sustained institutional interest in Ethereum. However, Friday's outflows are being interpreted as a sign of short-term profit-taking or market volatility. While major issuers like BlackRock's ETHA frequently lead inflows, some other funds have experienced redemptions.
Similarly, US spot Bitcoin ETFs halted their seven-day inflow streak on Thursday with net outflows of $225.2 million. They experienced further net outflows of $240.08 million on Friday. Despite these daily outflows, Bitcoin ETFs also closed the week with $103.90 million in net inflows, maintaining their three-week positive streak. Total net inflows for Bitcoin ETFs in July reached $233.96 million.
Across the market, these fund flows are closely monitored as a key indicator of institutional demand for crypto assets. Friday's outflows coincided with Ether's price trading around $1,837, down from its weekly high of $1,954 reached on Wednesday. Bitcoin, after slipping below $65,000 on Thursday, was trading near $64,000 on Friday. These price movements underscore the impact of short-term sentiment in the ETF markets on cryptocurrency valuations.
The broader trend for crypto ETFs indicates increasing institutional adoption. Notably, the introduction of staking-enabled Ethereum ETFs has boosted demand by offering investors the potential for passive income. However, macroeconomic and geopolitical factors, such as escalating tensions between the US and Iran, have been cited as contributors to short-term outflows, particularly from Bitcoin ETFs. US-listed ETFs account for the vast majority of assets and trading volumes compared to similar funds in other jurisdictions.
Analysts suggest that despite daily fluctuations, the sustained weekly and monthly positive inflows into both Ethereum and Bitcoin ETFs reflect long-term institutional confidence in digital assets. Moving forward, market participants will continue to closely monitor ETF flows, macroeconomic data, and geopolitical developments to assess potential trends in the crypto asset market. Persistent and robust inflows are highlighted as critical for price stability and upward momentum.
