Bitcoin to $1 Million by 2030 'Mathematically Impossible,' Says Markus Thielen

Markus Thielen, founder of 10x Research, stated that Bitcoin reaching $1 million by 2030 is mathematically impossible. According to Thielen, achieving this target would require an additional $15 trillion in capital inflows, which is unrealistic under current market conditions. He emphasized that as Bitcoin's market capitalization grows, it will be harder to achieve the same significant gains as in the past.

Bitcoin to $1 Million by 2030 'Mathematically Impossible,' Says Markus Thielen

Long-standing expectations in the cryptocurrency market that Bitcoin (BTC) will reach the $1 million mark by 2030 have been deemed 'mathematically impossible' by Markus Thielen, founder and head of research at 10x Research. Thielen stated that the capital inflow required to achieve this target is incompatible with current market dynamics.

According to Thielen's analysis, for Bitcoin to climb from its current levels (around $63,000) to $1 million, its price would need to increase approximately 15-fold. This would necessitate an additional capital inflow of roughly $15 trillion into the market over the next four years. This figure is equivalent to approximately 25% of the total value of the U.S. stock market, presenting a highly ambitious target for the cryptocurrency market.

The analyst noted that as Bitcoin's market capitalization expands, it will become increasingly difficult for it to replicate the astronomical percentage gains seen in the past. Thielen added that even reaching $100,000 would be a meaningful achievement, and a new all-time high next year seems unlikely.

Markus Thielen's statements contrast sharply with optimistic forecasts from prominent financial experts such as Cathie Wood of ARK Invest and Robert Kiyosaki, who have predicted Bitcoin could surpass $1 million between 2030 and 2035. These bullish expectations are often predicated on factors like increased institutional adoption and rising global debt levels.

Beyond his skepticism regarding long-term projections, Thielen is also known for his cautious short-term outlook. 10x Research previously anticipated that Bitcoin could decline to $55,000 between late August and October, citing factors such as a strengthening U.S. dollar, potential hawkish Federal Reserve policies, and Bitcoin's historical weakness in September. This indicates that Thielen's analysis considers global liquidity, the macroeconomic calendar, and Bitcoin's seasonal patterns.

Market analysts suggest that Bitcoin's future performance will continue to depend on macroeconomic conditions, the pace of institutional adoption, and global liquidity. While Thielen's comments emphasize the need to balance overly optimistic expectations with a realistic assessment, they also highlight that the highly volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market demands a cautious approach from investors.
