Binance bStocks Surpasses xStocks, Rises to Second in Tokenized Stock Market
Binance's bStocks product rapidly became the second-largest tokenized stock issuer, surpassing Kraken's xStocks in under two months. Valued over $610 million, it highlights strong growth in the expanding digital asset market.

Binance's tokenized stock product, bStocks, has rapidly ascended to become the second-largest tokenized stock issuer less than two months after its launch. This swift rise has seen bStocks overtake Kraken's xStocks, marking a significant achievement in the digital asset market.
According to Token Terminal data, bStocks' value reached approximately $624 million by August 3, surpassing xStocks, which was valued at roughly $579 million at the time. As of Tuesday, August 11, bStocks maintained its second position with $610.6 million, narrowly ahead of xStocks at $601.2 million. Ondo Finance remains the market leader with a valuation of around $927 million. Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao attributed bStocks' rapid growth to Binance's extensive user base. The product is issued by BTech Holdings Limited, a Binance affiliate registered in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), and is backed 1:1 by corresponding underlying securities held in custody.
The broader tokenized stock market is experiencing substantial expansion. Its total market value has surged from approximately $80 million a year ago to around $2.7 billion, representing a growth of about 391% since the beginning of the year. Daily trading volume across tokenized stocks and ETFs has also seen a significant increase, rising by 39% over the past month to $1.68 billion. These products offer investors exposure to US stocks through blockchain-based tokens without requiring direct ownership of the underlying shares, and they present potential for integration into decentralized finance (DeFi) applications.
These new-generation products are seen as part of an effort to bridge traditional markets with blockchain technology. However, tokenized stocks present regulatory complexities, particularly for U.S. investors and in certain jurisdictions. Binance bStocks is not offered in the United States or to U.S. persons. Notably, Kraken's xStocks recently gained attention for offering token holders voting rights, a feature generally excluded by most other tokenized equity products.
Analysts anticipate continued growth in the tokenized stock market, with further evolution in market dynamics and competition. The significant share of the tokenized stock market cap on blockchain networks like BNB Chain indicates that growth in this sector is not evenly distributed across all chains. Moving forward, factors such as liquidity, distribution, and the unique features offered by different platforms are expected to play a crucial role in determining market leadership.
