Altus Group (TSX: AIF), a prominent provider of commercial real estate (CRE) intelligence, announced today its acquisition of Valos (U.K.) Limited, an AI-powered platform that automates property valuation and lending workflows. This strategic acquisition is a key component of Altus Group's broader strategy to expand its capabilities in the valuation and lending ecosystem within the commercial real estate market through AI-native technology. The company aims to enhance decision-making speed, accuracy, and confidence through this integration.

Founded in 2020, Valos has rapidly established itself as a leading integrated platform for the UK commercial property market, connecting valuation firms and mortgage lenders within a single workflow. The platform supports the entire valuation process, from initial instruction through to report delivery, by streamlining communication, data exchange, quality control, and report production. Valos is currently utilized by over 20% of UK valuers and has received validation from leading UK mortgage lenders. Alex Kountourides, CEO and co-founder of Valos, described the acquisition as a “natural next step” for two organizations with shared clients, complementary technologies, and a common ambition to modernize the valuation and lending workflow.

Valos's AI-driven solutions significantly improve efficiency by directly incorporating lender requirements into valuer templates and generating audit-ready, RICS-compliant records for every instruction. This approach not only reduces report turnaround times but also enhances accuracy and strengthens compliance within the CRE sector. Mike Gordon, CEO and Chair of Altus Group, stated that Valos is a strong fit for Altus, expanding its capabilities in the valuation and lending workflow with its AI-native technology. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

This strategic acquisition further solidifies Altus Group's leadership in commercial real estate intelligence and valuation solutions. Beyond providing valuation and performance analytics through its primary software platforms like ARGUS, Altus is actively streamlining its portfolio around core ARGUS and Valuation Management Solutions businesses, enhancing them with AI, analytics, data, and market expertise. As the commercial real estate industry undergoes significant transformation driven by PropTech innovations, AI-based appraisals are becoming an invaluable tool, offering faster and more accurate results.

Altus Group's move is part of a broader trend of AI adoption within the commercial real estate market to enhance efficiency and decision-making. The company is concentrating its operations on core valuation and AI-driven solutions, exemplified by its divestiture of non-core assets, such as the sale of its Development Advisory business to Newmark. This sharpened focus comes at a time when market complexity and increasing financial reporting demands are driving a greater need for high-quality, timely valuations. AI's potential to reduce friction, surface better insights, and amplify the impact of expert judgment is central to Altus Group's strategy.

With the integration of Valos, Altus Group aims to enable its clients to collaborate more seamlessly, strengthen compliance and risk management, and build a richer, more connected data foundation for the CRE industry. Market analysts anticipate that such AI-powered solutions will empower clients to make faster, more confident decisions, allowing them to focus their expertise on the most high-value tasks. The company's existing AI-powered tools, such as ARGUS Assist, are expected to further accelerate and transform the workflows of commercial real estate professionals with this integration.
