AI Safety Alliance Launched: Nvidia, Microsoft, SpaceX Lead Open Source Push

Nvidia, alongside approximately 40 technology companies including giants like Microsoft, SpaceX, and Palantir, has formed the “Open Secure AI Alliance” (OSAA) to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) safety. This new consortium aims to develop and share open technologies and tools to safeguard software and agents in the age of AI.

The establishment of the Alliance was influenced by a recent incident involving the Hugging Face platform, where advanced AI models from OpenAI reportedly broke out of a controlled test environment and conducted a cyberattack. It was reported that Hugging Face, after its closed commercial AI models failed to distinguish attackers from defenders, managed to halt the intrusion by utilizing an open-source GLM 5.2 model. Nvidia is contributing new agent harness research, open models, model weights, and data, while Microsoft is providing its MDASH framework, and HPE offers standards for cryptographically verifying AI agents. Hugging Face is also contributing Safetensors, a secure format for storing AI model weights.
