U.S. natural gas futures moved lower as forecasts for mild weather reduced expectations for near‑term heating demand. Market participants pointed to weaker weather‑driven consumption over the weekend, which weighed on prices in the futures market.

Analysts note that demand for natural gas in the United States is highly sensitive to temperature changes, particularly during periods when heating needs dominate consumption. Forecasts showing temperatures around or above seasonal norms across much of the country have dampened expectations for short‑term demand growth.

However, projections suggest consumption could improve modestly next week. According to estimates from financial data provider LSEG, total natural gas demand across the Lower 48 states, including exports, is expected to rise from around 106 billion cubic feet per day this week to roughly 108 billion cubic feet per day next week.

Despite the short‑term decline, traders continue to monitor LNG export flows, production levels and updated weather forecasts, all of which remain key drivers for U.S. natural gas prices in the coming sessions.
